Haikus from a photo with a lot of Depth.

Today's dX Live Open Mic had this as the image prompt and the word prompt Depth:

natural sculpture

wind and water Gaia’s tools

Aided by Chronos

Parallel lines

Individual layers

Oceanic floor

It’s complicated

Intricate 3D printing

But I can make that

It withstands the sun

Oozing into weird shapes

Wondrous epoxy

See the rocks sliding?

Stymied geologic fun

Waiting for more rain

How far up is that?

Measure one layer’s height

Times a bazillion

Erratic shadow

Movement across roiling arched

Compressed sediment

Office towers with

No windows fit the landscape

Do you see them?

I parachuted

Through the craggy gap

How do I get out?

Humans see faces

In unlikely places

Like that guy there

The wind catches sand

Which erodes more sandstone

Sandy frenemy

Capitalism

This layer sponsored by

A moneyed interest

Bacon-y looking

Ribbons of smoked pork meat

Maybe I’m hungry

Impressive rocks sure

but the cell service

Is terrible

Everything’s safe

So long as it doesn’t rain

Was that thunder?

Will Nature ever

Create a hole deep enough

To reach China?

How’d I get here? By

not asking for directions

After a wrong turn

Haikus inspired by an off-grid home-build (with dX's Carissa)

The prompt at dX's most recent Open Mic was Mural and the picture was this:

protective sky blue

backdrops a drone snapshot of

outstretched joyous blue

linked together

they soar. how can you fly

with only one wing?

the shipment came in

palettes of palettes and

an assembly team

a house on blocks which

never had trailer wheels

a neighborhood of one

hey there comfy chair

sitting out in sun and air

shade will soon be there

tree limbs uplifted

mimic the hidden couple

don’t drop your arms

that’s either a drone

or a very long selfie stick

whatever. nice pic.

the performance done

two actors take a bow

theatre in the square

pink framed solar cells

portable flip phone design

in the shade

Portuguese green snakes

poisonous. look like water

hoses. don’t be fooled

olympic-sized pool

and idyllic tea garden

just off camera

smiling faces

and open arms welcome

they say “Bom Dia.”

Haikus from a Portugese cablecar

At yesterday's dX Live Open Mic, the word prompt was Connect and the image was this:

electrified car

on an inclined street

step up to step off

compounding incline

at door seventy-two

doubled elevation

tram power sources

electric for going up

gravity for down

look at the tracks

hear the rattling transit

feel your teeth shake

what’s that you say?

you’re talking down to me

let’s switch seats

I think I can

I’ve done it before

I can again

I have no coin

to afford a bumpy ride

I’ll get my steps in

a flat stretch of track

in a car built for slopes

everything’s tilted

six story walk up

in Lisbon’s humid heat

but a priceless view

take down the laundry

for the picturesque photo

it can rehang soon

an old merchant’s game

how far before a barrel

stops rolling downhill

is there free wi-fi?

can I charge my phone for free?

no amenities

how far up the street

does the fresh sea air rise?

and the fish stink end

thick black cable

a vine running along

internet lifeline

action-movie scene

a cable car chase

it’s faster to walk

cable car tortoise

pedestrian hare

with nowhere to sleep

two-tone tram

mustard yellow with aged white

matching building walls

tram number one

shudders upwardly onward

where’s number two?

Aleesha here!!!

This is what I wrote during Parz's live on YouTube today. The topic was patterns...  Bending deep and low Reaching as balance shifts… D...
